Yuen Po Street Bird Garden and around Kowloon
HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!!!!! Here’s some photos of people and birds from the Yuen Po Street Bird Garden in Mong Kok and all over Kowloon. Enjoy and hope you have a great big Chinese meal tonight, I certainly will!
Around the Bird Garden is also the Flower Market and live Fish market. Shot quite a bit around there as well.
On the subject of food. Here’s Tim Ho Wan. The world’s greatest Dim Sum. Yep, believe the hype. I was certainly skeptical but still wanted to try it after hearing about it on some Bourdain show or other and reading about it in all the guides etc. Was it worth the 45 minute wait on a Tuesday? Or was it Monday? I don’t remember which, but we got there early and the line had already formed and yes, it was. Waiting in line just made us hungrier which made us order an absurd amount of food. And we ate it. Every last bit. It was even better than I’d hoped. Those BBQ pork buns are of the gods I reckon. On one of our last days we went to the one in Central and I ordered an extra order of them just to carry around with me on our last day. I didn’t end up eating them until we were at the airport on our way home. I loved them so much I wanted it to last forever. We’ve been back in Cali for 5 months and I still can’t fathom the idea of having Dim Sum anywhere else. The freshness of all the ingredients, perfectly prepared and cheap! Even all the people around looked excited. The girl next to us was grinning ear to ear. Even though they were finishing their meal up when the people on the other side of them got some pork buns I recall she was squealing with joy. Seriously, it was that good. This Chinese New Years day we’ll be eating in Oakland and I’m sure it’ll be good. I’d rather be at Tim Ho Wan though.
Oh yeah, the following is all Leica M6 stuff from all over Kowloon. Previous was Nikon D600 stuff.
One of each please
