Rock and Roll at the Poor Cow
On our last night in Tokyo we were fortunate enough to catch a wild show at the Poor Cow. For more info on it and other great Tokyo rock and roll spots, check out some of the tips on jetlagrnr.com
We met up with Lily’s friend Tsune from the very awesome Young Parisian’s. I’d been to the Cow a few years before but had never seen anybody play there. Also didn’t really know how they could. The place is pretty small. Sorta like a friends basement bar or something back in the states but actually probably not too small by Tokyo standards. Not sure ‘cuz it’s the only bar I’ve been to in Tokyo. Seeing how it’s owned by Fifi of Teengenerate, Firestarter and other bands I don’t know how I could miss it. It started off pretty mellow with just two guys called The RUNWAY BROTHERS (TAKA-ROCK & HAYAKAWA) playing outta small amps at a pretty low level.
Next up was KEISUKE ( from DARK THE GIANT) also playing a sorta mellow set out of a small amp.
Next up was BOOGIE HIROSHI(from HIGH LIFE). Fifi got out from behind the bar and got behind the little drums to back him up and it started to really pick up. What a difference even a small drum kit can make. The place started getting a bit mad. Roller Boogie was the hit. It was awesome.
Lastly were the Sex! Playing a whole cavalcade of hits. The crowd went wild and properly so. It was awesome.
I found some footage of the show on Youtube. Shot by saitesaiko Here’s some of the clips!!!
Prefect way to end our Tokyo adventure, can’t wait to go back!
Great…
